We tend to wait.
Waiting for the perfect moment when a job will be offered to us, the moment when the rare opportunity will present itself.
And sometimes it does, but it’s not ideal. The timing is not correct. So we put it off until the perfect time.
“Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect”
—Unknown
But the problem is that it doesn’t exist.
Not in the past, not today, not in the future.
And even if it did, chances are we wouldn’t recognize it.
To grow yourself, your career, your money, you have to learn to create these moments.
When I was 18 years old (a long time ago 😀), I read an article in the newspaper sitting on the kitchen table. I was living with my parents at the time. It told the story of the Iron Man.
Bing!
One day I would do it. Years went by, work, family, life.
The perfect moment didn’t come, and I kept that dream in the corner of my mind.
But the longer I waited, the more likely that dream would turn into a regret.
I said, “the day I’m between jobs, I’ll do it.”
And looking back, it never would have happened.
“Don’t wait for the right opportunity: create it.”
—George Bernard Shaw
So I took a chance. I created the moment for my 40th birthday and offered it to myself.
It wasn’t the perfect moment. It was two intense years, where I invested a lot of my time.
But in the end, at the time and even with the distance. I don’t regret anything.
I have grown and learned a lot through this experience. It was and will remain an important moment in my life.
