Your 3 most important decisions.

August 17, 2022 by Dror Allouche Leave a Comment

It’s not:

  • The location of your next vacation
  • Your next job
  • Or the allocation of your portfolio between stocks and bonds…

It’s much more important than that, and it will determine your choices on the other 1,000 decisions you have to make.

The good news. You only have 3:

Your 3 most important decisions.

1 – Decide what I’m going to put my attention on.

My dreams or what I’ve been missing.

Your little voice is playing tricks on you. The majority of thoughts that unconsciously run through your mind are about difficulties.

Don’t believe me?

Take a pen and paper and write down everything that’s bothering you.

There are not many topics that come up.

Right?

It’s the same ones over and over again.

One solution: write in your journal about your fears. You unload your bottle of warm water that has been stuck for a few days/weeks/years. And you refill it with fresh water.

“What do I want to achieve”. You redirect your attention to your dreams.

2 – Decide that I always have a choice.

Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. —Viktor E. Frankl.

A natural question that comes to us when we encounter a problem is “Why me?” replace this ineffective thought with “What can I learn from this to grow? “

3 – Decide what is my next move.

My little girl often argues when it’s time to brush her teeth.

But if I chat with her, and hand her the toothbrush, she takes it and gets into action.

Take your biggest projects, look for the actions that will have the most impact, and get started.

And if the step of finding the best action is too complex. Choose the smallest, simplest one and get started. You will be on the move and find the next step more easily.

We spend our time deciding, but if we don’t clarify these 3 points, we miss the essential.
