Want To Start Journaling But Don’t Know Where To Begin? 11 Ideas ( From My Last 7 Years Of Daily Journaling.)

April 20, 2022 by Dror Allouche Leave a Comment

Writing in your journal improves your thinking, helps you manage your emotions, develops your creativity…

The more you do it, the more benefits you get.

But the most challenging thing is to start and then continue.

And these are the two questions I am most often asked.

– “But how do I get started?”

– “How do I make it a habit?”.

Want To Start Journaling But Don’t Know Where To Begin? 11 Ideas ( From My Last 7 Years Of Daily Journaling.)

11 ideas to help you…

1/Take time to find your Why.

Everyone does it for a different reason. Finding yours will help you keep going..
And there you have it, your first journal entry. 😀
How to build your life plan?

2/We’re all busy.

Anticipate what might get in your way and find workarounds.
Dare I say that. You already have your “second entry” in your journal 😀

3/Go to bed early and wake up early.

My biggest trigger.

The day I managed to get to bed earlier, I created a morning routine, and journaling was part of it. So the tip below won’t surprise you.
Do you want to achieve more? Sleep better.

4/Do it first thing in the morning.

My best strikes are the ones I make every morning.
No special appointments, no last-minute emergencies that could make me forget this important moment with myself.
How do you start doing the things you want to do?

5/Choose a medium you like.

Some people swear by paper and others by digital.

Both work.

You have no more excuses. Do not impose a time, a minimum of words, etc.

6/There are thousands of ways to do it.

As you do it every day, you will have all the leisure to test the different methods, and why not create your own. This is the learning process. First, you look for how others do it. Then you immerse yourself in a way that suits you. And finally, you create your own.
If you can learn, you can do everything. How to develop your learning muscle?

7/Lower your expectations.

One sentence, one page. Understandable, not understandable. Well written, poorly written. We don’t care. It’s only for you.
Don’t Wait For The Perfect Moment; It Doesn’t Exist. Grow Yourself By Creating It.

8/Review what you have written regularly.

It’s enjoyable and often instructive.
Simple Habits Are Often Powerful. How To Amplify The Benefits Of Journaling?

9/Keep it simple.

The most beautiful notebook, the best app, the keywords to search for, do whatever you want to improve your experience. But don’t forget to KEEP IT SIMPLE.
How to move from stagnation to creation? Try these 2 simple questions.

10/Even one sentence

“I don’t know what to write.” Stop.

We can all write one sentence 😀. And it’s hard to quit when you’ve already started.

Not convinced. Read Tiny Habits: The Small Changes That Change Everything by BJ Fogg

11/Read a book on the topic.

I’ve enjoyed The Bullet Journal Method: Track the Past, Order the Present, Design the Future. Book by Ryder Carroll.
I use his method for my appointments. I prefer to keep eye contact during a physical or digital meeting (camera). So I take notes in a nice notebook. I use the Leuchturm one.
For the rest, I journal in Evernote, and I even take essential topics from my notebook and add them to my digital notes.

Conclusion.

I hope these ideas will inspire you to get started because journaling may change your life as it has changed mine.
