We tend to wait.
Wait for the perfect moment when all the conditions are aligned.
“Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect”
—Unknown
The problem. It doesn’t exist.
Not in the past, not today, not in the future.
And even if it did, chances are we wouldn’t recognize it.
To grow yourself, your career, your money, you have to learn to create these moments.
When I was 18 years old (a long time ago 😀), I read an article in the newspaper sitting on the kitchen table. I was living with my parents at the time. It told the story of the Iron Man.
Bing!
One day I would do it. Years went by, work, family, life.
The perfect moment didn’t come, and I kept that dream in the corner of my mind.
But the longer I waited, the more likely that dream would turn into a regret.
I said, “the day I’m between jobs, I’ll do it.”
And looking back, it never would have happened.
“Don’t wait for the right opportunity: create it.”
—George Bernard Shaw
So I took a chance. I created the moment for my 40th birthday.
It wasn’t the perfect moment. It was two intense years, where I invested a lot of my time.
Looking back, I don’t regret it.
I have grown and learned a lot through this experience. It was and will remain an important moment in my life.
How to get started?
- Write down everything you want to achieve
- Choose a dream that inspires you more than the others.
- Ask yourself the right questions
- We all want to do things, but for every dream there’s a price to pay. Am I willing to pay it?
- Calculate the approximate number of hours you’ll have to invest in your dream. Are you still willing to do it?
- If the answer is “yes”. Go ahead and create your moment, there’s little chance that the perfect opportunity will present itself.
