Life is full of complexities. That’s what makes it an exceptional adventure.
At work, complexity is often associated with status. The more I work on complex projects, the more value I create, the more I get paid.
But there is one area where we are all equal, from the cleaning person to the company’s CEO. Our most complex and vital project is us.
How to grow yourself?
Our mission in our short time on this earth is to become the best version of ourselves, physically, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually…
In Eisenhower’s matrix, this would certainly be positioned as non-urgent but important.
The work file indeed comes to mind more easily. The deadline is in 2 weeks. I’d better speed up if I don’t want to end up in big trouble.
But for our main project (ourselves). Nobody comes to remind us.
You wanted to be the boss. Congratulations! On this matter, you are.
And don’t be fooled by appearances, even if it’s not written. There is a deadline.
Look at the old ones to see that.
The top five regrets of the dying
In the famous book “The top five regrets of the dying” author Ware Bronnie, who was caring for patients in the last 12 weeks of their lives, summarized the 5 regrets as follows :
- I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
- I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
- I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
- I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
- I wish that I had let myself be happier.
And no one has yet managed to interview those who left by accident, but I bet the speech will be even more direct.
I know what you’re thinking. “Yes, that’s right, I’ll get to it.”
STOP.
Don’t wait any longer. This is urgent, important and It’s super complex. A lifetime won’t be enough.
Get started now.
How do you grow yourself?
Dedicate at least one hour to yourself, every day, to work on your project.
It can be as simple as :
- Writing to understand yourself better
- Reading to stimulate yourself
- Walking to get some fresh air
- Breathing to calm you down
- …. and you are the boss. It’s up to you.
You have nothing more important than that. Start today and don’t stop until your deadline arrives.
Good growth.
