The Power of Questions: How to Transform Your Life

April 23, 2024 by Dror Allouche Leave a Comment

This principle changed my life. It could change yours, too…

“The quality of our lives depends on the quality of our questions.”

I was barely 20 years old when I first came across this idea in Tony Robbins’s famous book, Awaken the Giant Within.

The concept intrigued me right away, but it took me years to really understand and even longer to put it into practice.

Looking back, this principle fueled my growth in every area of my life.

It shifts you from:

  • Confusion to clarity
  • Low energy to motivation
  • Failure to success

My goal: Help you master this superpower – faster.

A Tough Decision

It’s been another intense week for our family. If you missed what happened, you can catch up here.

Unfortunately, at the end of last week, things took a turn for the worse.

The surgeon discovered a complication with one of our daughter’s leg fractures. He urgently requested a meeting for Friday to schedule a procedure for Monday morning. Every day we wait decreases the chances of success.

After a long discussion, the appointment is set.

Logistically, we have it sorted, but as parents, we’re torn by a seemingly impossible choice.

  • Technically, the decision seems simple. (The risk seems low, even if there is never zero risk).
  • Emotionally, it’s unbearable. (What parent would agree to have their child’s leg re-aligned/re-broken to ensure better healing?)

My wife and I spent the weekend caring for our daughter and trying to make the right choice.

  • Speaking with other doctors (5 in total)
  • Listen to the opinions of those close to us.
  • Revisiting every option and trying to anticipate possible outcomes.

Even with all that, I struggled to think clearly.

My journal highlighted a pattern: I was fixating (our brains seem wired to do that) on the risks and the fear of an uncontrollable future.

How about coaching myself?

I’ve logged over 500 hours as a coach. No time to call someone from my network. Why not do a session… on myself? 🙂

My goal: Make the best possible decision and find peace with it.

  • What do I already know? What’s still missing?
  • On a scale of 1-10, how clear am I on my decision right now?
  • Where was I on Friday evening after learning the news?
  • What’s changed since then?
  • What else can I do to gain even more clarity?

After the session, things felt clearer. I was at peace with our decision and knew what I had to do to refine our plan even further…

The quality of our lives depends on the quality of our questions

I’ve been studying and applying this concept for over 20 years, in my career and my personal life.

You too can use it to speed up your important projects.

And if you’d like support, I’m here. I can guide you with questions to uncover your path to clarity.

PS: As I write these lines, the operation took place yesterday. Overall, it went well. Now we wait and see if it prevents a second, more invasive, operation involving screws… Fingers crossed 🤞
