I enjoy working with ambitious leaders who want to grow their careers or businesses and, at the same time, enjoy their lives by paying attention to what is most important to them. Their relationships, their happiness.
One of the shortcomings of successful people is that they never savor it. As soon as one goal is achieved, they pounce on the next. It’s a flight into the future that rarely leads to happiness.
Dan Sullivan offers in his book co-authored with Ben Hardy (” The Gap and the Gain: The High Achievers’ Guide to Happiness, Confidence, and Success“) a simple and effective exercise that reminds us daily to focus on the gains instead of the gaps. Doing so makes you enjoy the present moment and recognize your progress.
The 3 daily gains.
Every day, take 1 minute and remember the three wins of our day. Even the worst days have at least three wins 😀
How do I know that?
I’ve been doing this exercise in another form for years. Every morning I’ve got a quiet time and remember more than 3 good things (wins) that happened the day before.
How to do it?
Dan offers to write them down. An excellent suggestion. You can do it in the morning or the evening.
A way to increase your chances of doing it daily. Anchor it with BJ FOGG’s method in his book Tiny Habits.
- Morning: Whenever I drink my coffee, I open my journal and write down my three wins from the day before.
- Evening: Whenever I close my PC, I open my journal and write down my 3 wins of the day.
What anchor have you decided to practice?
PS: Whenever you are ready, here are 2 more ways I can help you accelerate your growth through coaching:
- You are an individual: you have a penchant for action. You’ve achieved a lot. And yet you want more. Curious? Let’s connect for a free call and see if we can work together
- You want to be coached in the workplace: I help successful leaders become even better. And you only pay me if you succeed (yes, I am serious). Curious? Let’s connect for a free call and see if we can work together
