Personal Change: 4 Simple (But Not Easy) Steps to Transform Yourself (and Inspire Others)

June 25, 2024 by Dror Allouche Leave a Comment

“He should…”

“If only…”

“In his place, I would…”

We feel good in the moment (maybe) when we share these thoughts with someone else (who’s not involved).

Our friend empathizes with us, but it doesn’t change the situation.

What if the solution lay within us?

Personal change: 4 simple (but not easy) steps to transform yourself (and inspire others)

“Be the change you want to see in the world”.
-Gandhi.

Personal change: 4 simple (but not easy) steps to transform yourself (and inspire others)
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, September 1931.

A mother travels a long way with her son to meet Gandhi.

Her son eats too much sugar and she doesn’t know what to do anymore.

Gandhi listens and asks them to come back in two weeks.

The mother doesn’t understand…

Two weeks later.

Gandhi looks the boy straight in the eye and says, “Stop eating sugar”.

The mother, unable to hide her annoyance, says:

“Why didn’t you tell him that two weeks ago?”

Gandhi’s answer,

“Two weeks ago, I was still eating sugar.”

Changing others is a crowded highway. Changing yourself is a quiet country road.

And frankly, it’s understandable.

Changing as an adult is one of the most difficult things to achieve.

Easy to understand, difficult to apply.

And when it’s difficult, we tend to make things more complex.

  • Searching for the latest app
  • The latest concept
  • Creating super detailed schedules that take forever to make and that we’ll never follow

What if it was easier than that?

Personal change: 4 simple (but not easy) steps to transform yourself (and inspire others)

  • Ask the people around you what you could improve.
  • Transform feedback into visible, observable behavior.
  • Practice your courage. Tell them what you’re trying to achieve.
  • Regularly ask them for feedback and suggestions for progress.
Find out more about this approach here

These 4 easy-to-understand, hard-to-apply steps are the key to your personal transformation.

But not only…

Also, that of others around you. Without asking, you positively influence them to change.

It’s more effective than blaming or telling a third party.

There are fewer people on the country roads, which gives us time to think and learn. 😀

What changes are you planning this summer?

See you soon.
