What an overwhelmed boss thinks first when you quit:
- Who will take of your projects?
- Can you call this customer?
- There is a hiring freeze. How I’ll manage that.
What an “intentional leader” says first:
- You made a decision, and that’s a great thing. Bravo. I wish you all the best in the future.
- Is there anything I can do to help you?
- Can we set up a meeting where you can tell me what is working and what we can improve?
The overwhelmed boss or the “Intentional leader” have to organize the next steps and ensure that everything works well. But the order they do this shows whether they are in control of the situation or drowning in their problems.
The “Intentional Leader” is still within you. Take a step back and reconnect with him.
