A year ago, I decided to open a note ( in Evernote) and pin it to my favorites.
I chronologically write down my decisions. I had planned to do this every day but I failed and maybe it’s not necessary. Researchers estimate the average person makes around 30,000 decisions every day. 😀
Nevertheless, I have made a lot of decisions.
I had no idea where it was going to take me. But I don’t regret, and I’ll keep the process.
How To Track Your Own Decisions? A Way To Grow
I had for example decided to launch my blog on 09/2020. I had hesitated for a long time between doing it in my native language French or English. I finally chose to start it in English even though it was not 100% ready.
After thousands of views, a lot of learning, exciting connections, I obviously can’t regret it.
I don’t know what it would have been like if I had done it in French, but reviewing all my fears at the time of the decision is interesting. And of course, none of those mental worries came true. On the contrary, I have opened up a new field of options to grow 😀.
I also made decisions that didn’t work out. That helps me too. I can ask myself, “If I had to do it again, how could I do it differently?”
That’s the principle of a decision. You never know in advance and sometimes even afterward if it was a good or bad thing. But once you have made it, you feel better. It’s time for execution. Now I’ve chosen, so what’s my next step.
Tracking down your decisions reminds you that you are in charge and immerse yourself in the thought pattern.
The more you make, the more you follow, the better you get.
The content is less important than the process. It takes discipline, but as often happens, it brings a lot. As for me, I’m continuing the experiment…
So if you want to try, here is a simple process :
- Open a note.
- Write down your decisions.
- Review this file once a quarter and update it with the impact of your choices.
