When you first start to study a field, it seems like you have to memorize a zillion things. You don’t. What you need is to identify the core principles – generally three to twelve of them – that govern the field. The million things you thought you had to memorize are simply various combinations of the core principles.“

Confusion is the first step to clarity
I like this idea. I have lived it in everything I have done. There is always this wave of information that seems impossible to manage. But as soon as you pass it, everything becomes more evident, and you understand how a zillion of things are related to a few principles.
This is the case of passive investment with ETFs. It can be summarized in 3 principles:
- Look for ways to increase your income.
- Spend less than you earn.
- Consistently invest the surplus over time by aiming for the simplest strategy with ETF(s)
Around these 3 principles, there is a lot of information. But as you dig deeper, you realize these are just variations of these three themes. The book The Simple Path explains it well.
Don’t let too much information get in the way of your dreams.
Go through the first wave, identify the major principles, and then attach the most critical actions/tactics to be performed.
What you thought was confusing will become clear.
Step by step, you will get closer to your dreams.
What topic would you like to reopen to gain clarity?
