October 28, 2021 by Dror Allouche Leave a Comment

I am passionate about growth. I like the idea of continuous improvement. There is a beginning but no end. Growing yourself is the goal of a lifetime.

There are hundreds of ways to improve yourself. I’ve read over 300 books that in one way or another approach the subject, and I love sharing what has concretely impacted my life.

7 ways to improve yourself daily.

Sleep well.

“My mother told me to follow my dreams, so I took a nap.”
— Unknown

Six years ago, I radically changed the way I approach sleep. I go to bed before 10 pm and wake up at 5 am.

Previously, I would often go to bed after midnight and wake up at 6:30/7:00.

This small change on paper has had a significant impact on my life. I am more energetic, more creative, more resilient, more joyful, more productive….

Every good night of sleep helps me to grow.

Move.

The reason I exercise is for the quality of life I enjoy.
— Kenneth H. Cooper

Sports have been with me almost all the time. But the few times I have neglected it for too long, I have felt the stress creep in.
And sometimes, a simple 15 to 30-minute walk is enough to re-energize me.

Plan ahead.

If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.
—Jim Rohn

Not all of our plans come to fruition, and that’s okay. Planning gives direction and makes daily decisions more manageable.

Having a life plan, a direction for the year, the quarter, the day gives you a sense of control. You are proactive and undergo less.

Read.

I really had a lot of dreams when I was a kid, and I think a great deal of that grew out of the fact that I had a chance to read a lot.
—Bill Gates

Reading stimulates your mind and helps you create new options. Enjoy the best mentors sitting quietly in your living room for only a few bucks.

Write.

I don’t journal to ‘be productive.’ I don’t do it to find great ideas or to put down prose I can later publish. The pages aren’t intended for anyone but me. It’s the most cost-effective therapy I’ve ever found.
—Tim Ferriss

Life is complicated, and writing allows you to observe yourself. It gives you time to step back. Over 6 years of writing in my journal every day have helped me to grow, gain calm and clarity.

Learn.

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.
—Mahatma Gandhi

We live in an incredible time where all knowledge is one click away.
Rediscovering the pleasure of learning what you like by creating your own schedule is an energy and growth booster.

Develop your creativity.

Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected.
— William Plomer

We have the habit of brainstorming at work. We are asked to think about a topic. But the ability to brainstorm on your own on topics that interest you is a game-changer.

10 ideas to grow yourself daily?

And you start writing down everything that comes into your head. By the seventh, it will get more challenging. But keep going. Most of your ideas will not be good. But who cares?

If there is an interesting one, it’s already huge and it gives you a new option.

Becoming the best version of ourselves is a life mission. It’s well worth spending time on your growth.

Have a good trip.
