Forget Procrastination And Over-planning: My Simple Method To Succeed In Your Third Quarter

July 1, 2024 by Dror Allouche Leave a Comment

No matter what you’ve done or haven’t done in the first two quarters of the year, everything is still possible.

And the next 90 days are your best option.

Often, we fall into one of these two traps:

1) I’ll start tomorrow

Time flies and we find ourselves at the end of September saying “Q4, I’ll start tomorrow”.

2) Prepare a lot, execute little

We get lost in the apps, tools, processes… We organize each month, week, day, hour of our projects.

In the first case, by postponing, we miss the boat. In the second, by preparing too much, we no longer have energy to execute.

Be realistic when you plan and optimistic when you execute.

My simple method to succeed in your third quarter

Gain clarity with minimum preparation and maximum action

In over 20 years of practice, I’ve tried many things, but nothing has worked as well as the formula below.

All you need is a note (paper or digital, I use Evernote).

1) Create the big picture

  • You don’t need to know all the details, just the direction (triple A can help).
  • The first actions will help you fine-tune the plan

2) Create lots of “whys” for yourself

  • The road is long and it can be tough at times.
  • Reminding yourself “why” you’re doing it will help you keep going.
Discover how having several “Whys” helped me keep running even after a big disappointment.

3) Block time in the diary

  • Dreams come true in action, not in preparation

4) Review frequently

  • To avoid distractions (even useful ones)
  • To stay centered (The secret to achieving your ambitions: choose the right measure and review it frequently)

5) Dream big, measure yourself with kindness

  • What makes us grow is progress, not results
  • Whatever the result, focus on how much you’ve gained compared to the beginning of the period.(Objectives, habits and good measurement).

To find out more about this methodology.

  • Triple A: stay aligned and motivated in 2024
  • Make 2024 a success: Move from an event to a process.
  • Become master of your destiny: 3 essential principles to make your dreams come true quarter after quarter

For the curious, does it work? My year 2024 divided into quarters.

My 2024 objectives

From B1 to C1 in German

  • Q2 result: obtained B.2.1 and start B.2.2
  • Objective Q3: finish B.2.2 and start B.2.3

I’m in the difficult phase. After 6 months, I’m starting to reach a plateau. But thanks to the above process, I remember why I do it and persevere.

Professional Certified Coach (PCC)

Obtain an additional certification from the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

  • Q2 result : Done. Relieved. An 18-month project.
  • Objective Q3: Just keep improving as a coach by reading and reflecting on my practice.

OptionsToGrow: Double 2023 income by working a maximum of 6 hours a day.

  • Q2 Result: I’m on track.
  • Objective Q3: further development.

With 5 weeks off in the summer, I don’t make it easy for myself. But I’ve observed that the more constraints I put on myself, the more creative I become…

Whether I succeed or not is less important than the process of reflection and action I’m going to follow.

I’ve got plenty of iterations to test in Q3. 😀

Conclusion

Advancing your projects is more a matter of courage and discipline than talent.

Take a few minutes to start the process and make your next 90 days a springboard to your dreams.

What have you decided to do on your Q3?
