Feeling overwhelmed? Do not neglect this emotion at the risk of seeing it turn into a “Burn Out”

August 26, 2022 by Dror Allouche Leave a Comment

Our emotions send us messages.

Listening to them over and over again (when they are negative) affects our morale.

Ignoring them creates frustration. And the small problem tends to become a big one.

I feel overwhelmed => I feel exhausted => I am sad => I have no taste for anything => I am in Burn Out => I am depressed….

It’s better to treat the emotion in the “overwhelmed” phase.

What does “Overwhelm” send as a message?

I don’t feel in control, the demands are coming from everywhere and I can’t process the flow. I see the problem as permanent.

Tony Robbins explains it well in what I find to be his best book. “Awaken the giant”.

6 steps to take back control:

  • Block out 30 minutes in your busy schedule.
  • List everything you have going on
  • Prioritize
  • Select what will have the most impact on your work
  • Schedule sessions in your agenda to work on them
  • Start again with the next topic

You take back control of the situation and remind your little voice that the problem is temporary, not permanent.

The more you progress on your important issues, the more your feeling of being “overwhelmed” turns into “excitement and enthusiasm”.
