My daughter, 6 years old, recently came up with a project to write and publish a children’s book😀. She hired all the family to help. The parents will assist in the writing, her big brother will help with drawings. Let’s see how far she will go. But one thing that astonished me is the enthusiasm and energy she got since she had the idea.
It’s a natural fact for children to get excited about a project. We also have that as adults, but maybe the challenges of our daily lives hide it deep inside us. It becomes more difficult to access our dreams.
I see two main categories of people.
- The ones who are still trying.
- How do you find the time to do that?
- How do you remain consistent?
- The ones who believe they can’t do it anymore.
- They tried but they can’t be persistent.
- They’re not made for this.
The key to succeeding in any project is consistency. If you develop the right habits, if you do the work every day, you can succeed in anything you want.
As with everything that creates value, it’s easy to understand but complex to apply. Consistency is only a byproduct of a chain of reflection.
- Self-reflections lead to clarity.
- Clarity leads to focus.
- Focus leads to actions.
- Actions lead to short-term results.
- Consistency leads to long-term success.
So it’s not that you don’t have the time or are not a “persistent” person.
It’s that you miss clarity. You miss the big picture. You don’t have the end goal in mind yet.
With more clarity on where you want to go and how you want to be remembered, the whole process becomes easier. You get alignment and everything else (focus, actions, consistency) follows suit.
How To Become More Productive?
So, if you don’t progress enough in your projects, start to go back to stage one and do these three actions:
I built my first life plan four years ago; I adapt it every year, and I’m journaling daily. By doing these 3 key actions, I’ve increased my focus and my consistency dramatically. I’ve probably achieved more in the last four years emotionally, intellectually, physically, and financially than in my previous 15 years.
I’m convinced that we all want to achieve our dreams. Exploring, choosing, and executing a project, whatever the result, is a journey to fulfillment.
Don’t wait any longer, invest in your life plan, one day at a time.
Enjoy the process.
